What TWEB Is Doing To Stay Safe

The world is a crazy place right now. From murder hornets, to wildfires, to a world-wide pandemic, things are undeniably scary. The World Egg Bank understands, and we are taking every precaution possible to ensure the safety of our staff and donors. We want our donors to feel comfortable while donating, so here are the additional measures we are taking to reduce risk:

  • Extra training for staff and education for donors about the importance of hand washing, face masks and social distancing.
  • All staff and donors are required to observe social distancing guidelines and/or wear a facial covering when in treatment areas. Appointment times are staggered to limit the number of donors in our office at one time.
  • Minimal staff and donors in the office at a given time. Administrative staff are working from home and visitors have been restricted.
  • Routine cleaning procedures are strictly followed with additional COVID-19 precautions. We follow all state and federal guidelines for medical practices.
  • All staff and donors are screened for symptoms of illness upon entry into the office. Each person is required to take their temperature, oxygen level and complete a COVID-19 symptom questionnaire.

The health and safety of our staff and donors is our primary concern. We are closely monitoring the guidelines for COVID-19 infection prevention and adapting our protocol when necessary. We encourage any questions and concerns about treatment changes and ways to protect yourself and your family to be sent to donors@theworldeggbank.com.

MEET CAT

Caderina Carrizosa is our Chief Operating Officer. However, before working for The World Egg Bank the past 12 years, Cat was an egg donor. After meeting a family who struggled with infertility and had children through donor eggs, she saw that the connection and love were no different than with her own biological parents. Seeing this family inspired her to embark on 4 donation cycles. Throughout the journey, she learned about her own fertility and chose to freeze eggs for her future.

Some fun facts about Cat include her love for dogs. She has two pups, one of which outweighs her. In high school, Cat enjoyed playing softball and excelled in track. Her favorite movie series is Fast and Furious and she has a strong passion for iced tea!

Why People Need Egg Donors

When talking to Intended Parents who are struggling to start their family, we often hear how having a
family is something they didn’t think twice about in their prior years. It is very often assumed that
having a family will just happen. What most people don’t realize is it is not always that easy. One in eight
people suffer from infertility. This is a statistic that is not widely publicized. Donors such as yourself,
have made the decision to go through a process to help the dream of a family come true for those
suffering from infertility. There are a multitude of reasons Intended Parents need the help of eggs
donors.

Some reasons being:
• Age
• LGBTQ+
• Infertility
• Cancer/chemo
• Radiation
• PCOS
• Endometriosis
• Scar tissue
• Low ovarian reserve
• Genetic disorders

Egg donors change lives and make dreams come true. They are a symbol of hope when all other options
have been exhausted. They are the missing piece in the puzzle for Intended Parents all over the world.
Being an egg donor is so much more than a way to make money, it is a way to change the world.

Foods To Eat While Cycling

Did you know that the food you eat can actually impact your fertility? It’s true, certain foods can boost your fertility, while others can diminish it. So what are the food do’s and dont’s of cycling?

Do

  • Fill half your plate with fresh fruits and vegetables. Antioxidant-rich foods are vital.
  • Eat more whole foods.
  • Consume 1-2 servings of whole milk or full-fat dairy products.
  • Avoid trans fats and eat more unsaturated fats.
  • Get enough protein, zinc, and iron by incorporating fish, chicken, turkey, and pork.
  • Mix it up to fill nutrition gaps!

Don’t

  • Eat too much gluten, as it triggers the body’s inflammatory responses.
  • Consume trans fats.
  • Focus merely on animal proteins. Beans, nuts, seeds, lentils, and chickpeas are essential proteins.
  • Consume too much coffee, tea, or alcohol. Moderation is key.

Considering the dos and dont’s mentioned above, here are some of our favorite fertility foods and what they offer you:

What Your Horoscope Says About Your Donating Power

Aries: March 21 – April 19

As an Aries, you have probably been told that you have a strong personality. You are eager to try things that others have succeeded at, knowing that if they can do it, it should be no issue for you. Your mind easily flashes to all the possibilities a decision holds for you and you grasp strongly to those that are of positive, progressive outcome. This makes you an incredibly powerful donor. Not only have many others completed donation with flying colors, but their positive stories, wanting to donate again, and financial gain makes you excited to join them.

Taurus: April 20 – May 20

Taurus, your creative side makes the decision of donating very interesting for you. You don’t like to let others down and, when placed with a task, like to see it completely through to the end. When you find a place you like, whether it be a local eatery or simple place to gather your thoughts, you tend to return to that place time and time again. This makes you an honest donor of great strength. Tapping into your creativity will lead you to understanding that donating has a potential for financial gain, however, the comfort you find in helping others have a family will spark your interest in donating many times over.

Gemini: May 21 – June 20

There are many sayings regarding curiosity, however, your tendency for curiosity, Gemini, may just end up leading you on a wonderful journey of self-expression. You have an underlying drive to accomplish many things in your life that lay on many different paths. The trick for you is simply trying to make sense of those paths to align where your life takes you next. You have a kind heart at the center of your being and donating in some regard has been on the back of your mind for some time now. This, along with your ebbing curiosity to learn more, makes you a knowledgeable donor. Just like in many other things, knowledge is power, so use that going forward with your donation process.

8% of currently active donors at The World Egg Bank are Gemini

Cancer: June 21 – July 22

Being so caring, Cancer, things do not easily slip by you. You enjoy taking extra time to ponder the consequences on both sides before jumping into a situation with both feet. This is especially true when other people’s feelings are at stake. You are sensitive to how people feel and can imagine yourself in their shoes easily. You are a natural donor and the amount of compassion for those struggling to create a family makes you one of the most powerful of all. Simply knowing that you are making a difference in people’s lives is enough for you to want to help; a trait many intended-parents cherish when choosing a donor.

Leo: July 23 – August 22

Leo, your love to express yourself through larger-than-life actions is about to pay off in numerous ways. You tend to be the leader of the group and rarely need someone to push you towards doing something great and, when you find that next great thing, you are quick to act in order to attain it. You have a disposition to cling passionately to whatever may be currently weighing on your heart, making you a very powerful all-in donor. You don’t need to sit on the decision for longer than necessary because you know what you want and, due to your headstrong nature, anyone trying to sway you will simply make you want to donate that much more.

Virgo: August 23 – September 22

When you first heard about donating, Virgo, your eyes may have narrowed slightly. Turning on your practical nature, you may have immediately delved headfirst into research. You think that helping others is wonderful, however, you are not easily swayed into thinking that the reward will come without effort. However, once you are convinced that a decision is right for you, you tend to cling to that decision with assured, yet gentle, tenacity. This makes you a waterfall donor. Hesitant as the calm waters of a flowing stream at first, nonetheless, once your grip is assured, you can fully dedicate yourself and become a strong and powerful donor. One that is even able to be an influencer to others who may sit uncertain in the wading pool of indecision.

You are not afraid to set your own schedule as well as limits, however, your wanting to be included in a social situation draws you out and helps you push yourself, increasing your power as a donor. Your natural internal ability to grip strongly to items deemed worthy of your attention make you a reliable donor. Reliability being a great force driving donor power. Aquarius: January 20 – February 18

When the idea of donating entered your subconscious, it is likely that many wheels began turning, Aquarius. Perhaps you often find yourself thinking too deeply into many things, especially if they include the opportunity for a unique and refreshing experience. However, once you settle on an idea, there is usually nothing that can sway you and you don’t let many things get in your way. Your enthralling imagination makes you the dream donor. Maybe you imagine what the donation process would truly feel like on an emotional level and sometimes find yourself thinking about the intended parents’ emotions. The ability to use your imagination on this level, while rare, makes you one of the most powerful types of donor.

9% of currently active donors at The World Egg Bank are Aquarius

This may have a tendency to make you step back and think when others may already be jumping in headfirst. You don’t allow these early adopters to upset you, though, because your inner persona is developed in a way that has made you wise beyond your own personal experiences. You are able to truly empathize with people, especially with those who are in need, making you a willing and able donor. Not only are you able to understand the physical need centered around donation, but you are able to understand the emotional need of those who benefit from donation. This type of high-level power will make you stand out to many along your journey.

At The World Egg Bank, we put our donors and recipients first by using science and proven data to shape our protocols and procedures.  Our donor stimulation protocols, oocyte vitrification technique, shipping procedures and all related technical and operational systems are closely monitored to guarantee the best outcome for both our donors and recipients.  The World Egg Bank is able to accomplish this because we control everything under one roof using our custom-built database. In addition to the sophisticated functions and search tools available on our website for recipients to browse donors, our staff is available to assist each recipient with the delicate process of selecting an egg donor, making payments, and coordinating shipping. With The World Egg Bank there are no complicated formulas, long term commitments, or false-hope guarantees – just plain science.

Our highly trained Laboratory Department dedicated time specifically to research to remain ahead of the curve. Dr. Kimball Pomeroy, Scientific Director, and Brian LoManto, Laboratory Manager, recently assisted in the research and publication of an article regarding cryo-storage tanks. This article dives headfirst into their findings and how cryo-storage tank failures have a direct correlation with temperature and volume loss over time. Meet your best friend by… donating your eggs?

(Names
have been changed to protect the identity of the donors.)

Allison was a first time donor with The World Egg Bank when
she started feeling nervous before her first retrieval. Allison told The World
Egg Bank, “I emailed and called Andrea and Lisa probably daily with concerns
and “what ifs”. Then Lisa emailed me that there was a previous donor,
Cassie, who agreed to talk to me and just tell me how her donation went.” Just
like that, Cassie and Allison’s contact information was exchanged and a soon to
be friendship was born.

Cassie recalled, “Through email, I assured Allison of the
smooth donation process and we discussed potential sightseeing options we would
like to do during our stay in Phoenix. I had no idea these simple emails would
get me checking out some of the world wonders alongside Allison.” Cassie and Allison
emailed back and forth until the time had come for them to travel to Phoenix
and finally meet each other in person.

Both of them arrived safely to Phoenix for their retrieval.
When asked about their adventures in the valley, Allison recounted, “we went to
the botanical Gardens, ate at top rated restaurants, and went shopping. We
decided to rent a car and go see Sedona, then head up the the Grand Canyon!
Just being able to experience the desert, flying in a plane alone for the first
time in my life, and making a lifelong friend made for the best week of my
life!” The girls created memories and started a friendship that would last a
lifetime.

Cassie added, “The people I befriended while donating have
given the donation process a whole new meaning and I am forever thankful Lisa
connected us through email.” It is clear that these ladies formed a close bond
due to their shared experiences of donating with The World Egg Bank.

Allison emphasized, “I was scheduled to donate this last December and Cassie texted me that she was too, so again we got to reconnect after a year of not seeing each other. I’m so thankful for the opportunities The World Egg Bank has given me and for the sense of purpose I have now knowing that I could have helped create a family.” The World Egg Bank encourages friendships among donors and is happy to share this lovely story of friendship from two fantastic women.
